Geoff Lewin- 1922-2006

It is with great sadness that we have to report that our past secretary Geoff died peacefully on August 21st 2006 in Brooklands Nursing Home, Drayton, Norwich.

Our thoughts are with his wife of 42 years, Brenda and his 5 children and their families.

He first served with the Yeomanry at 17 years of age when war broke out in 1939 and later went on to serve with the Chindits under General Orde Wingate in Burma.

After the war he worked for the Co-op and became the manager of their shop in Brigstock before taking the Catherine Wheel in St Augustines, Norwich, in 1968.

He joined the Norwich and Norfolk LVA , was elected on to the committee, served on the Watney Mann Tenant Stream and became LVA secretary in 1986 when he and Brenda retired from the pub to their cottage in Old Catton.

He worked in this position for 13 years until his accident in Amsterdam in 1999.

He will be missed by all his colleagues in the trade who enjoyed his company, his forthright approach and his friendship.
