Still Need Time To Think about Smoking?

Large numbers of pubs in England and Wales say they need more time to prepare for the smoking ban than the government is factoring in according to the results from a recent survey conducted by The Publican.

More than half say they will need at least 6 months to prepare while 16% say they need 18 months plus.

With consultation on the details of the legislation not likely to be completed until the end of the year, the final guidelines will be handed over just months before the expected summer 2007 start-date. Not unlike the Licensing Act!

4 out of 10 pubs believe they will be forced to cut staff as a result of the ban. There is also a belief that almost 50% of pub customers are smokers.

More than 1 in 4 (29 per cent) believe that the ban will bring in new customers - but 8 out of 10 (81 per cent) believe they will lose some existing customers.

We'd love to hear what your thoughts and opinions are on this crucial issue, an email to marketing@nnlva.co.uk would be great.
